Overview

This leadership course explores the need to be more adaptive in this era of rapid, global change. Participants will delve into the adaptive challenges facing business leaders across the globe, such as worker shortages, employee engagement and artificial intelligence. They will describe, explain and examine the adaptive challenges most crucial in their own work environment, by practicing people skills such as humble inquiry. They will also consider how emotional intelligence works and why it has become vital to the practice of adaptive
leadership.

Program Objectives

  • Participants will learn how leadership is “a voluntary, interactive process that intends adaptive change”, an activity that can be practiced with or without positional authority.
  • Participants will practice communication skills that allow them to identify adaptive challenges and explore possible solutions.
  • Participants will understand what adaptive leadership is and how and why it works
  • Participants will discuss the critical role that emotional intelligence plays in developing conversational skills and practicing adaptive leadership.
  • Participants will examine how all business has become both global and local. Marketing a product or service globally means understanding the needs and interests of the local people and adapting to that local reality.
  • Participants will practice strategic leadership skills, including one-one interviewing using a process called “humble inquiry” which requires generative listening and summarizing the other person’s meaning.
  • Participants will explore and discuss how all leadership should intend to contribute to the common good of society while also providing a just and fair profit for the company. Leadership for the greater good values people, profit and the planet.

Who should attend

This course is designed for business professionals, both managers and leaders, who are interested in improving their people skills and leading adaptive change. By the end of the course, participants will have a clearer understanding of adaptive leadership, how and why it  works. They will also further develop the conversational intelligence they need to practice leadership and management in today’s world.
