Energy Transition Management (ETM)
Mitigating climate change remains a great challenge of our time. As the challenge intensifies, the global energy sector plays a crucial role. The transition to sustainability involves complex socio-technical changes and long-term policy shifts. More importantly, the practical transition towards sustainable energy systems requires effective and efficient management to be successful. Companies seem to be sometimes lost in this process, as the topic is well covered from a technological side, but not from a managerial perspective.
The academic debate on energy transition has expanded exponentially in recent years. However, a comprehensive understanding and overview of the evolution, trends and best practices in the practical management of the energy transition remains under-researched. Our study fills this research gap and provides guidance for practitioners.
The project’s main objective is to understand and optimize energy transition management by:
- evaluating the importance of ETM for organizations
- identifying the stakeholders influencing ETM
- understanding the factors impacting the decision-making process
- identifying key success factors and best practices for successful implementation
- defining KPIs to monitor success in ETM
- sharing the knowledge and informing the business communities with latest insights and practices
Based on semi-structured interviews with decision makers in Central and Western Europe, the project results should be published in Q2 2025.
