This is the story of our MIM student, Kamala Hacieva, originally from Azerbaijan. After her studies at LSB, she embarked on a fulfilling Tax career journey in a Big 4, now thriving as a VAT Consultant in PwC Luxembourg.

– Why MiM? Kamala (K.): “After finishing up during the chaos of the pandemic, I wanted to keep pushing myself academically and boost my career options. Luxembourg seemed like a good move, especially because of what LSB had to offer though the Master in Management program, particularly the focus on Tax. What really caught my eye about LSB wasn’t just the classes, but the chance to connect with people in Luxembourg’s professional scene. The exposure to a wide array of professionals in my field of interest was an invaluable resource because we got to learn outside of the classical classroom set up”.  – How did MiM change your life? MiM in practice: K: “The Master in Management (MIM) program has prepared us for the professional world from the start through many team projects which is very different than the classical purely theorical way of most schools.   The MIM program also expanded my professional network. LSB is well known in Luxembourg and highly regarded by major organizations in the country. This recognition has undoubtedly opened doors and created opportunities for us.   The school helped in adapting to the new city which sometimes might be disturbing when you come from the other side of the World like me. At the end, all students felt comfortable in their surroundings.”   Putting in practice new skills:  K: ” I did my specialization in International Tax. Although my current role focuses on one specific branch of Tax i.e. Value Added Tax (VAT), the entire coursework has equipped me with a broad understanding of the field and helped me adapt to my role and contribute effectively to my team’s work.   I noticed that the knowledge I possess is not just beneficial to me, but also to my team and I am often asked to assist others with their tasks which is highly valued within the team.   I would say that that classes at LSB put you in a collaborative environment where knowledge sharing is encouraged, and everyone can learn from each other.“ What MiM brought you personally:    K: ” On a personal level, the MiM program has been more than just an academic journey. It has helped me acclimate to a new city, making a foreign place feel like home. The support I received was comprehensive, addressing not just academic needs but any other personal matters.   It has been a journey of growth and transformation. I now feel fully equipped with the necessary tools for my professional life and feel belonging in a new city“.
