Virtual teams represent a tremendous opportunity for productivity and employee satisfaction, at the same time is a significant managerial challenge. The COVID crisis has forced many teams to discover working on-line, often with mixed results. Today while these teams appreciate the new tools and possibilities, they have also discovered the main challenges working on-line brings. Today, most managers are not fully equipped to manage high-performance virtual teams. As a result, in a 2020 study, 84% of employees feel less connected to their teams, 54 % feel not treated equally and more than 60% expressed concerning Zoom fatigue. However, on-line teams are not new; tech companies, among others, have been working with on-line teams for more than a decade. And they have learned a lot and wish to share this information. The goal is to go beyond simply working online and build teams that are motivated, cohesive, efficient, and productive.

Pau Virgili is an entrepreneur, consultant and lecturer with a passion on how technology is transforming strategy and consumer behavior. He brings to class a wide range of experiences and a solid conceptual framework from his work with HP, Coca Cola, Plantronics, ESADE, and several successful startups. Pau was the General Manger of Marketing for HP Consumer Products Europe Middle East and Africa, where he and his team built the first cross-product line HP retail go-to-market, from brand strategy to retail execution. He managed a diverse team in excess of 1,000 professionals across more than 20 countries. As an entrepreneur Pau has launched several successful companies in the areas of Mobile Business, Marketing on-line, and Advertising: Summa Branding, Loopy Messenger, Viko, and Mubiquo, among others. He contributes as a consultant, thinker and facilitator to companies such as Coca Cola, Banc Sabadell, Nike, Total, and Nestlé, helping them engage more productively with their customers. He is currently a Professor at ESADE Business School for the MBA and EMBA degrees, and invited professor at the Luxembourg School of Business, Universidad del Pacifico Perú, among others. Pau holds and MBA from the University of Chicago and he is the co-author of the book “La reconciliación con el consumidor”.
